I like all the little quips you come out with Alan and it's obvious Jenny has a good sense of humour. She needs it with you..(only joking). Take care and look forward to the next episode. Bye for now.
Hello Pauline and Derek, Good to see you are still looking at the website and it giving you a smile. Yes, Jenny is a great sport, and believe me she will get her own back. Now in the South Island, so we will expect it to be wetter and cooler. Keep that cuppa' hot. Best Wishes, Alan & Jenny

Comment: Hi again Alan and Jenny. This is the first time I have had a proper chance to look at what you have been getting up to. Very intersting, keep up the good work. We arrived back in Heathrow from LA on 30th March to all the hype about terminal 5 and it was true. With any luck they will be sorted by the time you return. Best wishes WOF Paul & Trudy. ps I gave you the wrong address for our blog see above for what we did on our 83 days away from UK.
Hi Paul and Trudy, Good to here from you, Don't know about this terminal 5 is it finished? We have not seen a TV since January, the Kiwi's know more about UK news than we do. The last piece of news I remember (my memory isn't that good) was some liner on its maiden voyage hitting an iceberg! We found your blog both interesting and useful, Regards Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Hi! Love your website but unfortunately it's contributing adversely to our severe post holiday depression. It was great to catch up with you on Doubtful sound. I asked Katie to marry me that night, while you were watching the slide show. We had the deck all to ourselves. She said yes by the way. I'm jealous you had snow. I still haven't touched any. We've added your site to our favourites so we'll keep an eye on your exploits. Have fun at the glaciers. Let us know when your in Melbourne.
Hi Dave and Katie, Sorry you're having that post holiday depression, But eh, congratulations on you engagement, Jenny by the way guessed, We hope our ramblings didn't spoil your party. We will certainly let you know as we approach Melbourne. Best Wishes to you both, Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Hello to you both. Have been catching up on your travels as we have been offline for a few weeks. What can I say but I am astounded at the photography. Are you sure you don't have a professional with you? They are stunning, beautiful, breathtaking and any other adjective that fits. Well done. Have lots more fun and keep up the good work. Pauline and Derek.
Hi Pauline & Derek, Glad you are back on line, we have missed your comments. Honestly we have not got a professional photographer with us. Although we did learn a lot from Mike on the photography safari from Queenstown and I have changed some of the settings I previously used and I am happier with them. (all to do with aperture, speed and white balance). You both have fun, leave some Carp in that lake. Best Wishes, Alan & Jenny.

Your photographs of the Milford and Doubtful Sounds bring back memories of a cruise ship visit a couple of years ago - thankyou sooo much Lesley
Hello Jeff & Lesley, Thank you for your comments on the website. I have emailed you seperately on some information on 12 month Visas to Australia which may be of help. Let us know when you start your trip, it could be a small world. Milford and Doubtful Sound were one of the highlights of New Zealand and will be a treasured memory. Best of luck with your plans. Comment: Hey you two. I hope you are enjoying yourselves so much in beautiful Sydney that you haven't had time to tell us all about it. How was the raisin toast? Enjoy yourselves, Lesley
Hi Lesley & Jeff, Sydney was great, the internet a bit difficult though and more expensive than NZ. We've sorted the raisin toast, we bought some from the supermarket for breakfast in the motorhome, Problem was the adjustment on the toaster, the first lot was cremated. (actually just the way Jenny likes it, a devious way of getting extra slices). Best Wishes Alan & Jenny.

Hi Briain & Judy, best look at the Travelogue for the latest weather here, seen more rain in the last two days then we did in the whole of our stay in New Zealand. We are storing some photographs at present as we are finding it more difficult to access the internet, however we are in Hervey Bay for a few days so hopefully we will catch up. Comment: Hi to you both. I have been following your progress using Google Earth and believe me it looks absolutely beautiful. Even the 'Wreck of the Meheno' can been seen on there. You are doing a great job with the website and I just don't know how you have found the time to keep it up to date. Take care anyway and we look forward to more adventures. Pauline and Derek.
Hi Pauline and Derek. Hope you are both well and catching plenty of fish. Pleased you are enjoying the website, it is dark here by about 6:00 pm so the website keeps me occupied some evenings. I also write the days "exploits" in to Microsoft Word first before pasting to the website which makes it a bit quicker. Internet access is not as good as in New Zealand and sometimes we are quite remote (and we will be remoter, if there's such a word) we have thought of putting our Lat' and Long co-ordinates on for those who use Google Earth, what do you think of that idea? Let us know. Best Wishes Alan & Jenny.

Just not having to work is enough for me....ha ha... Well I see you are off to Litchfield National Park. I am certain it won't be a bit like home if you get my meaning. You have some excellent pictures of sunrises and sunsets so keep up the good work and look forward to more stories in the travelogue. Take care Pauline and Derek.
Hi Pauline& Derek, looks like your last message went AWOL, we didn't receive the email confirmation either. Pleased you are still finding the website interesting, we are now using our own GPS co-ordinates which are more accurate than from our camp-site directory, Googled right into our camp-site tonight. Lichfield that is Staffs, used to have the "t" in it but some lazy XXX decided to leave it out (probably around 1066). More sunsets to come, busy with the website tonight so missed the best part of today's. Keep catching them, best wishes, Alan & Jen.

Comment: It was very nice to see you both at Kings Green Caravan Park in The Malverns. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay there. Derek is out of pain now that his abscess is gone after having his tooth extracted today. NO it has nothing to do with Jenny's apple cake which was delicious. You are very lucky to have such a wonderful cook as your wife. Maybe next time we see each other you can cook the BBQ but we will still provide the wine. I thought afterwards that we should have given you a bottle to send you on your way but never mind. (next time). You will just have to remind us. Take care on your travels and hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Pauline and Derek xx
Great time at Kings Green, thank you both of you. Please don't mention Apple Cake again, people will be knocking on the door of the motorhome for their share. Anyway it means I will have to "scrump" some more apples. Wonderful cook? On our first wedding anniversary I bought Jenny a cook book (well the first anniversary is paper) so I must take some credit myself. Look forward to a BBQ, the wine sounds a good idea, Best Wishes Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Hi to Alan and Jenny, Well, how exciting to read about your adventures. We came across your site whilst searching for a "new model" campervan hire in NZ. We are both in our early 60's and children of immigrant parents to Australia (when we were 8 years old). We both have a yearning to be grey nomads like you both, but have to muster the courage to realize our dreams. Have to ask - do you have a plan for when you are no longer able to be grey nomads (meaning, sorry......too old!)? Where will you live, or more importantly, did you put some funds away to cover that chapter in your life book? Your story is really great reading and we wish you all the luck in your future adventures around the world. Who knows we might meet up somewhere some day. Best wishes from us both.
Hello Haze and Pete, Very pleased you found our web site and hope it will be useful to you when you visit New Zealand. We met many "Grey Nomads" when we were in Australia, remember our saying on our home page, "Don't dream the dream, do the dream". In answer to your question on growing to old, we have still some funds from the sale of a house and obviously the value of the motorhome, we would like to live in Herefordshire eventually and rent a property, however we will hopefully be nomads for some time yet and who knows visit Australia again. When I do die, I want to die quietly in my sleep, just like my uncle did, not screaming and shouting like his passengers! Let us know about your travel experiences. Best Wishes Alan & Jenny.

It was a pity that our paths didn't cross - well mebbe they did but not at the right time LOL Possibly we'll meet up somewhere along the road - our next plan is to buy a caravan to do a bit of touring and use for our craft shows next year. Comment: Hi there you sound like you are having a great time and doing just what we would like to do. We have been childless ( if I can put it that way ) for 3 years and would love to full-time. We are 59 and 57 and hate to admit it but our main opposition to our plan to sell up and travel happens to be my parents. Trevor has no parents and our daughter says do it. Can't believe I'm finding it hard to go against parents wishes at my age. They can.t believe we want to get rid of bricks and mortar. Sorry to moan but just got back from yet another lecture so I feel like a schoolgirl. Love to read about your adventures and your interests are very similar to ours. Keep up the good work photos are great and much appreciated by hubby with camera hobby. Kind Regards Anne @ Trev
Hello Anne & Trevor, Yes we are certainly enjoying ourselves. Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made. Our daughter, partner Ian and our new grandaughter are seriously thinking of emigrating to Canada. Yes, we shall obviously miss them, however Jenny and I only have a certain time ourselves left on this planet and our daughter and her partner must look after their future and the future of their daughter and do what is right for them, not us. We cannot be selfish and not allow them to do what they want, to secure their future. Do what is right for you and Trev. Best Wishes Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Just came across this site its perked us up its fantastic. We are planning to take the plunge early next year house/business up for sale. Finances sorted - but still a lot of areas we could do with some advice. I'm 72 and diabetic the wife wasn't due to retire for another 6 years so we decided to go for it and I hope its not to late. We are looking at Motorhomes and I note you have an Autocruise and the wife favours the Startrail 2011 model we are hoping to get a bargain any advice welcome.
Hi Keith & Karen, Very pleased that you are enjoying our web site, it also "perks" us up when we read messages such as yours, it makes the effort of maintaining the web site worthwhile. We have never regretted the descisions we took, We did take a very long time in deciding what motorhome to buy, we know we bought the correct one when we go to a motorhome show and don't see anything better. Keith if you want to send a personal email on what you want from a motorhome I am sure we could advise, however everyones requirements are obviously different. 3 aspects we wanted were a fixed bed, with decent kitchen space and storage. Kind Regards Alan & Jenny.

Hi Les, Ironic that we should pick up your email and guest book meesage today (10th October). We have just arrived at "The Ketch" and will be staying here until Friday. Will be fishing (weather permitting) Wednesday and Thursday, guess I'll just have to show you how it's done! We are pleased to get your feed back on the web site, it makes the effort worthwhile. Best wishes to Dave, thank him for the recommendation of Winchcombe C & CC, been there (as you can see) twice already, its almost equal distance between our daughter at Weston-super-Mare and our son at Lichfield, so it is an ideal "stop over". See you soon, Regards Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Hello Alan and Jenny My wife (Lynda) and I are collecting our first motorhome from the dealers next week. We aim to have a few trips away to get used to it before we start our 7 month tour of Europe at the end of March next year. Its great to read of your life as fulltimers, the photos are good too. Just wondering, if I can be nosey, how you got round the fulltimers insurance problem? Once again, thanks for an interesting and informative site. Paul
Hello Paul, Enjoy your new motorhome, hope you have fun in it like we do ours. Must have a look at this place called Europe, but such a lot to see in the UK. Thank-you for your comments on the web-site. We have no problem with insurance, we found Comfort Insurance perfect for our requirements. Happy Travels, Alan & Jenny

Hi Les, sorry we missed you at "The Ketch" maybe next year, Caught a 10lb + barbel so very pleased. I think I know who you mean at Cathedral Grange, has he just moved off? I didn't realise your van was on No2, I might have looked to see if there was any Malt Whisky hidden away! We are going to Derbyshire Monday and then possibly Condover CL at Shrewsbury to do some Carp Fishing. Thanks for your comments, Best Wishes, Alan & Jenny
Comment: I got your site from www.magbaztravels.com and I'm glad I saw it- it's so good to know about sites from other people. We are fellow Autotrail owners ( Autotrial Apache 632), recently retired and delighting in having time to travel. Aren't we all lucky people? Many happy travels and best wishes
Hello Maggie, Thank you for your best wishes. Yes, retirement is great isn't it? We don't know how we had time to go to work! Our motorhome is an Autocruise Starblazer, not an Autotrail, however we did look at the Autotrail models, but the lay-outs didn't suit our needs, we are all different aren't we? We will be looking at your travel blog, Safe Travels, Alan & Jenny

Comment: Had a look at some of the photos of birds, nice. Bit anorackish I know, do you digiscope, long lens or just a good camera. I enjoy birding but tend to do it on a personal pleasure basis. Have thought about digi scoping. Problem is cost and something else to carry
Hi Keith. I use a Nikon D70s with a Tamron 300-500 lens or occasionally with a Nikon 70-300 lens, this is the camera I use for most of the wild life photo's and for all those on our World trip. I bought a Nikon D300 camera in 2009 and I use that for my landscape photos with a Nikon 18-105 VR lens which I don't particularly like, preferring the Nikon 18-70 (which unfortunately broke), which was the "kit" lens with the D70s. Hope this helps, Regards Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Hi Alan & Jenny, we were also at Warwick Racecourse in 2010 whilst they were trying out the big screens, very interesting to watch. Its really good to read about your travels, we are both in our late 30's and we are constantly dreaming of doing the same as you. One day will will do for sure. Happy Camping!!
Hello Darre & Sam, Yes those screens were interesting and the one truck, wow! Glad you are enjoying reading about our travels. As we say, don't dream the dream, do the dream, however I guess you have more time than us, but don't leave it to late! Best Wishes Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Happy New Year to you both. Hope you are feeling better now Alan so that you can get this years adventures underway and more importantly, tell us about them. We continue to follow with interest and enjoy reading about your daily lives, better than Eastenders or Corrie for me, this is real. Anyway, take care and have a safe and happy year.
Thank you both, starting now to feel a lot better (15th January). Yes, haven't decided yet on our travel plans for this year, should we finish Wales or go East, Norfork(ish)? Never see Eastenders, like Corrie though! Happy New Year, Alan & Jenny.

Comment: Good to see you up and about again Alan. Do take it easy though as there are lots of people going down with a similar virus, appear to pick up only to be bowled over again a few days later !! Your not in any rush it will still be there tomorrow :0)
Thanks Eric, the virus has certainly taken it's toll, I'm starting to feel my age (36). Regards Alan & Jenny.
